Antigua

        Read About Antigua

Antiguans claim to have a different beach for every day of the year and their island's many beautiful soft, sandy beaches and coves certainly constitute its main attraction. Low-lying and volcanic in origin, Antigua & Barbuda form part of the Leeward Islands group in the northeast Caribbean. Barbuda lies 40km (25 miles) north of Antigua and is an unspoiled natural haven for wild deer and exotic birds. The beaches are excellent with coastal waters rich with all types of crustaceans and tropical fish. The most popular resorts have hotels located either on beaches or close by, where you can cool down with a local drink such as ice-cold fruit juice or, should you prefer something stronger, Antiguan-produced red or white rum. Restaurants and bars can be found in the main tourist areas. Steel bands, combos and limbo dancers travel round hotels, performing nightly during the winter season (November to April).

Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman
This British Crown colony is known for excellent weather, great watersports and hassle-free ambiance. Plus, it boasts the highest standard of living in the Caribbean. In fact, though the total population numbers only 32,000, the Cayman Islands are the 5th largest financial centre in the world. The Caymans have been called "The Underwater Capital of the Caribbean", and it's not hard to see why. With over 200 named dive sites, the islands are famous for their carefully protected living coral system. Snorkellers and divers alike delight in Stingray City where groups of up to 15 gentle stingrays love to socialize with the tourists.

Deep sea and shore fishing, and golf on two courses (one featuring use of the novel Cayman ball which travels only half the normal distance) round out the sports option. All visitors are drawn to Seven Mile Beach, which has been rightfully described as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Other sights include the sparkling little capital GeorgeTown, the local turtle farm., and the tiny village of Hell, surrounded by spiky black geological formations. Shopping is sophisticated, with bargains to be found in high-end duty free items such as watches, crystal and jewellery. Nightlife is quiet, to say the least, with entertainment (such as there is) centred on the large resorts.

However, for most visitors, a quiet nightcap or moonlit stroll is the way to round out the perfect Grand Cayman day!
